Microsoft has hired former Microsoft game development employee Steve Krawczyk as its new Chief Marketing Officer for its Mule product, a software development tool that helps developers build games for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Windows platform.
Krawcyz, who also worked at Microsoft from 2013 to 2017, will join the company as the head of product development for the new Mule, according to Microsoft’s website.
Krewczyk joined Microsoft in 2015, following a stint at EA in the same role.
In his role, he helped design and build the Microsoft Game Studios division and developed games for the Xbox Live and Xbox 360.
Previously, he had worked as an independent game developer, where he worked on games like Battlefield 3, Battlefield Hardline and Battlefield Hard Reset.
Microsoft also hired former Xbox Games co-founder Marc Whitten, a longtime Microsoft fan who joined the company in 2015.
Whitten previously worked at Sony Online Entertainment, where his focus was on the PS3 and Xbox Live services.
In an email to Polygon, Microsoft said it was a “natural fit” to bring Krawscyz on board, adding that he will work with the company to develop and support its next-generation Xbox, which is set to launch in 2020.
“We’re excited to welcome Steve to Microsoft as our next Chief Marketing and Digital Marketing Officer,” said Brad Charney, general manager of Xbox and Xbox One, in a statement.
“As a developer, he is a world-class game developer who has helped many great games become successful and continue to evolve over the years.
He’s a world class talent, and we look forward to having him help us continue to deliver the best Xbox experiences on Xbox One and Xbox LIVE.”
Krawczk is also the founder and CEO of the game development company Mule.
Microsoft said that it is “delivering a better, more connected Xbox,” adding that the company is also adding “new features and experiences” to the Xbox 360, including a revamped My Games List that will give users a new way to discover games.
Microsoft’s new Xbox will be the first Xbox console to offer cloud storage capabilities, which will allow users to store up to 10 terabytes of data on their console.
Microsoft previously said that the new Xbox would launch in early 2019.
